Good readers are great writers!
Good readers are great writers, and great writers are great storytellers! Unfortunately, teens of color are not exposed to as many writers of color as they are the proverbial "canon" of writers who are taught in school.
To fix this misfortune, we created #BrownTeensWrite, a writing awareness project to not only expose them to various writers of color, but to provide creative writing opportunities to brown teens in grades 9-12 as well!

We have combined literary arts with education so that young, brown writers can explore writing as a form of expression or a career path while being exposed to a myriad of writers of color in all genres.
It is important for any writer to see the labor of their hard work come to life, but it's even more exciting to see the spark that ignites when teens see their work published!
We are turning that spark into a flame by publishing the short stories, essays and mini-scripts by Brown writers! We want our works to be meaningful contributions to the Brown literary and digital media phenomenology happening now!
